Postcard from Georgetown, CO

Towns like this are the reason I moved to Colorado.

To be able to hop in my car, head west and suddenly be engulfed in mountains on all sides — to take a right exit and be cruising with the windows down through a Rocky Mountain town filled with alpine trees and a sparkling lake and a candy shop.

Meet Georgetown: a little less than an hour’s drive from Denver & with enough fresh air to make your head spin. I spent a few hours wandering around last week while Colorado was having an unusually warm streak (72F & sunny in January — I’ll take it!) and couldn’t help but capture a bit of the town’s charm while I was there.

Have you ever visited Georgetown?

Ahhhhh. Wonderful photos — that’s definitely the type of place I’d like to visit.

Somebody’s got an impressive woodpile there — bet those Colorado winters get pretty fierce!

I’m sure it gets pretty cold in the mountains! But this week in the Denver area it’s in the 60s :$

Same here in the DC area. Mind blown — usually we’re in the low teens this time of year!

I loved driving through all the towns when we drove up to Vail from Colorado Springs. I had never seen any towns like them. So cute, and with snow in the background, it was awesome.

Thanks for following FictionalMachines & nice post– A few years have passed since I’ve been through Geogetown [Spent nearly a decade in Vail / Avon / Leadville / Etc.], I miss daily life in the quiet mountain towns so much that I have to block / ignore the thoughts and memories most days! Anyway, have a great one, take care!

[…] In February, I traveled to Peru with two of my closest pals in the world. I started working at hotel. I took all of my newfound “down time” and detoxed from all stress and meltdowns I’d be having back at home. I became accustomed to all of the flaming Colorado pride and explored the surrounding areas. […]
