A few weeks ago, while I was living in Texas, my mom and sister came to visit. In the past year or so, we visited Texas more times than we had in all the years since my aunt, uncle & cousins moved down there – but exciting things were happening!
First, I moved to Colorado in January and stopped in Dallas on the way there (a little bit of a detour, but a fun detour), then we were back in April for Kelly’s baby shower/Easter/a trip to the Dallas Botanic Gardens, then I surprised Kelly a week after baby Dax was born, then I came back AGAIN for a long weekend over Labor Day, then moved in with her in October (where we celebrated Thanksgiving in Austin and saw the Alamo in San Antonio)!
TEXAS TEXAS TEXAS.
Amy and I my mom came down for a long weekend and we spent a day in downtown Dallas and a day in Forth Worth – with lots of family time spent obsessing over baby Dax in between.
In downtown Dallas, our first stop was the 6th Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza – a museum dedicated to President John F. Kennedy and his assassination in 1963. We learned details of his life I’d never known before, watched the footage of that fateful November day, and after we left the museum, went outside to see the spot where he was killed.
And then we got Mexican food.
That night, we spent a few hours at Top Golf Driving Range in Allen, where I swung a golf club for the very first. It did not go well. But it was fun.
The next day we went to Fort Worth, where we did two things: got stuck in a huge maze in the hot Texas February sun (and consequently got super pissed off) and ate a lot of barbeque. Texas forever.
Shoutout to baby Dax, who somehow was in none of these photos.
If you’ve been, which do you prefer: Dallas or Fort Worth?
