About

Hi! I’m Kristen. The name of this blog stems from this quote:

“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”
–Leonardo da Vinci

My first taste of flight came on a high school Latin trip to Italy. Stepping into the winding, cobbled streets of Rome that summer of 2008, I experienced a kind of rush I have since felt countless times: the feeling of arriving in a new place is bewitching. And addicting.

I recently moved from Philadelphia to Colorado, and I’m so ready to get out and explore the wild wild west. I like to remind myself how swell life can be — I hope you agree & stick around to check out some of my adventures!

I’ll be happy to do it, fellow traveler! Looking forward to seeing where your adventures *do* take you. If to Texas, then who knows but what we might cross paths. But then again, there are so many places we all need to explore, and the distances between them are perpetually shrinking, so the convergence of our ways might well be anywhere! For now, glad you came by ‘my place’ on the internet.
    Cheers!

I’m so happy I had the opportunity to travel in my 20s. This was way before the internet and emails and blogs. But, thankfully, my mother had saved all my letters and postcards from those travels. When she died, my sister sent them up to me. I got my memories back. Many of them formed the core of my book Mediterranean Journey. Travel on!

I’ve done quite a bit of traveling myself this year! I was lucky enough to get to Prague and New Zealand, as well as some US cities I had never been to before. I see that Texas is on your travel agenda. I’m a native Austinite who is about to move back after a 2.5 year stay in San Francisco, so I’m happy to offer some suggestions. 🙂
